Kanthaswamy is a 2009 Indian superhero film written and directed by Susi Ganesan, starring Vikram as the titular character, with Prabhu, Shriya Saran, Ashish Vidyarthi, Mukesh Tiwari, Krishna (in his only Tamil film) and Vadivelu form the pivotal cast.
The film was shot in both Tamil and Telugu, with the Telugu version titled as Mallanna, with Telugu comedian Brahmanandam replacing Vadivelu. The film tells the story of Kanthaswamy, a CBI officer in the Economic offences Wing, who along with his friends grants the wishes of the needy, whom they write letters to the great Lord Muruga temple by disguising as an anthropomorphic rooster behavioured superhero. He encounters Subbulakshmi, the daughter of a corrupt businessman PPP, who tries to expose his secret identity and falls in love with him.
